Between 5 and 10 percent of all Danish women has experienced a postpartum depression on some scale. In this personal documentary, the director travels to her mothers home at the west coast of Denmark, after having found an old letter, where her mother describes how she struggled after having given birth. The interview in this film is the first time mother and daughter sit down and talk about those difficult first months with postpartum depression, what might have caused it and how it has affected their relationship. It’s a film about the complexity of our close personal relationships and an attempt to create a language for something that is extremely difficult to talk about.
